We both have been playing this game for quite a while now. If I suspect any unnatural behaviour why should I be O.K with it? No you can't show proof, do you need it? We ban a FEW because a FEW are cheating, in OUR opinion. You turn around the complete situation. It's not fair for everyone that is clean and play on the server every day. Most of the people in this game are capable to see if anything is suspicious or not. If I see someone skipping ingame while it's not lag, have unnormal dodgingtimes and have unnatural turning... give me one reason not to ban him.

why don't you all just play the game the way you prefer and stop giving a shit about what others do. We all play rune to kill time, it's not like any of you "pro gamers" gets money for the stoneage dba spinning youve been doing for almost a decade now. If you want competitive gaming i suggest you actually play a competitive game with a community bigger than 10 people.

I dont think you have to be a competitive player to get tired of other players who are running like rabbits on speed and ruining the game for the rest. After a decade I still enjoy playing the game. So I decided to pay for a server. I cant see any reason why I should say, "I dont give a fuck about what you do" if someone is fooking up the game. Just because I dont make any money playing it isn't good enough.

I dont mind losing a few games to a good player. It would take quite a lot for me to start suspecting cheats. But when some Ragnar throws and runs and you have no chance to keep up with him if you start chasing him.
I agree that many players get to hear they are cheating when they play good. I guess many players find it easier to say someone is cheating instead of accepting that the player is actually skilled.

still i dont like banning poeple just because they seem to cheat. its not enough for me. seems to cheat or i think he cheats isnt enough evidence. and just because they maybe move a little different or seem to hack a bit doesnt mean they cheat. and dont deserve a ban. thats just my opinion. we dont have enough players to ban them. these guys are all we got left.

Alot of players get accused for cheating. Sometime its quite obvious but usually its hard to tell when a player uses cheat. A common scenario... The admin gets an anticheat mutator to prevent cheat. Still he suspects that some player can use a cheat on his server. After playing some more games he is more or less convinced. So he bans him. The player get to hear he was banned for cheating. The player gets mad and says "no one have ever proved that I use cheats! Prove it if you gonna ban.". We all heard some similar scenario, I guess. How can one prove that? Its hard to detect the cheats. And if you detect it you still cant prove anything.
I think it shoud be up to every admin if they want to ban a player for cheating. If someone in VnB is convinced a player is cheating on a VnB-server they will probably ban. And if the player later says he wants see proof that he cheats (he also knows its close to impossible for admin to prove he is cheating). So I'll turn it around and tell the player to prove he is NOT cheatng. I have no idea how but I want proof he doesnt cheat.
We have this anticheat to prevent most of the shit the players use. If there still exists cheat on the server. Its up to every admin to decide what he wants to do. Easy as that.
I just have to mention this incident that happen many yeasr ago. Rooster hosted a server and Rooster and Mash were there. I joined with a fake nick and played a few and got quite good stats. Since I was faking they didnt know where I was from. So Mash said to Rooster: "Banna honom, han tror han är cool!" (In eng. Ban him. He think ehe is cool). I hadnt even spoken a word since I entered the server. One minute later I got banned. ;D I think that would fall under the 'admin abuse'-category. Hehe

Hehe i dont remember telling such bullshit. but i appologise if i did. but anyway u cant ban a player without proof really man because take for example in real life how many innocent sitt in jail just because poeple THINK they did crime and didnt got enough proof. do u understand me? but its ur server and we accept ur decision ofc. but think about it. its just an old game. and my friend just wants to play in peace. if u still wanna go ur way then we accept no problem.

Years ago when I started hosting I had a similar way of thinking. But after awhile I realized it didnt work very well. It always ends up with word against word.
Lets take a hypothetical example... A VnB member bans a player hear a player called Ragnar saying "Im gonna crash your server" and it get crashed. The VnB'er bans him and lets me know about it. Next day Ragnar contacts me and says it wasnt him. Someone just tried to frame him. So I remove his ban. One hour later same thing happens when the VnB'er is there and witness it all again. So he bans again when the server got crashed. If that scenario would happen three times and Ragnar says he hasnt done anything and that I cant prove it was him.
That would give me two options: 1. I remove his ban one more time cause I have no proof. That would also mean that I dont trust the VnB member who said he witnessed Ragnar saying he would crash the server every time. (That VnB member would probably start questioning my sanity after that.)
2. I trust my member and Ragnar stays banned.
That example is maybe a bit extreme but it explains my point how it usually ends up with word against word.

Yea, my post got a bit longer and more complicated than I had planned. Anyway. Because its almost impossible to prove some cheats you can't say you always need proof to ban.

why is this suddenly such a big issue? Noone cared in the past 10 years and suddenly rune depends on it ? People always cheated in this game and always will, in the end it boils down to the question if you will ban based on suspicion or not. It has ALWAYS been like this.

It's always been a big issue. Only difference is that most people were oblivious about the cheats. Btw I attached the new version. Fixes the problem with the skins and also allows for custom skins. Attachments:
